I think it's often better to get an adult dog. When you adopt an adult dog, you're probably saving a life. What's more, you know exactly what you're getting in terms of size, temperament, health, etc. Frequently, adult dogs already are housebroken and trained. And adult dog is not as likely to chew up your possessions. Adult dogs can love you and bond with you every bit as much as puppies, they especially love you because they may understand that you have rescued them.
